THE RHA has welcomed the introduction of an “allow list” by Transport for London to manage the enforcement of London’s Direct Vision Standard. RHA made it clear that as a result of Brexit and Covid-19, HGV operators are unable to fit the required safety systems before enforcement begins on 1 March.
Commenting, RHA chief executive Richard Burnett said: ‘The supply chain disruption caused by Brexit meant that operators have faced difficulties sourcing the required safety equipment.
‘In addition, Covid-19 has meant that the technicians needed to install the equipment are either furloughed or complying with travel restrictions.
Meanwhile, the RHA will encourage hauliers to register with TfL before 1 March 2021 to meet the “allow list” requirements.
