THE HEALTH and Safety Executive (HSE) is to meet with its ‘pallet weight working group’ to discuss weight limits on pallets, following pressure applied by the Road Haulage Association (RHA).
The meeting follows the death of a lorry driver crushed by a pallet falling from a tail lift at the back of a lorry, the pallet weighed 1,405kg (see pages 38-39 for the full story).
That meeting between the HSE and the pallet weight working group is the result of intense lobbying by the RHA.
Sources told Transport News, as the magazine went to press, the meeting comes after RHA threatened to take up the matter with UK government ministers.
