The Scottish Government has expressed its gratitude to the haulage industry in Scotland and its support network for continuing to work through the coronavirus pandemic to ‘ensure food, drink and other essential items remain available’.
Michael Matheson, the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity (pictured), said in a letter to the Road Haulage Association that the Scottish Government would ‘continue to support those efforts during this ‘unprecedented situation’.
He said that all staff within the industry have ‘shown how important they are’.
He wrote: ‘I am acutely aware of the significant challenges the industry faces at the moment. I would personally like to thank everyone for keeping the supply chains operational and for making sure that Scotland continues to have access to the goods it needs.’
