BOC HAS now added BioLNG to its growing HGV offer. It’s a sustainable version of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) produced by the anaerobic digestion of organic waste and by moving to BioLNG, the CO2 savings of up to 20% created by LNG can be boosted to as much as 95%, thus offering considerable cost savings compared to diesel.
Chris Hampton, LNG product manager for BOC says, ‘This is an exciting development in our journey to decarbonise transport. Hauliers now have the ability to save money and dramatically reduce their carbon footprint, by using government approved BioLNG in their LNG vehicles.’
Vehicles will continue to be supplied with LNG in the usual way and an equal quantity of biomethane will be injected into the UK gas grid to balance the quantity used for vehicle refuelling, says BOC, the UK and Ireland’s biggest industrial gases business and part of The Linde Group.
