ON FRIDAY 23 November, Volvo Trucks’ Gent Plant in Belgium celebrated a significant milestone by handing over the keys to the one millionth Volvo truck produced in the Oostakker factory since it opened in 1975.
In a special ceremony, plant manager Koen Knippenberg handed over a Volvo FM to Alderman Martine De Regge of the City of Gent, where the truck will join a fleet of 18 Volvo trucks and will mainly be used for logistical support for the various city services. A Volvo truck built in Gent for Gent.
Today Gent is the largest Volvo trucks assembly plant in Europe and the second largest in the world. The Volvo Group employs more than 3,500 people in Belgium.
