THE UK market leader in truck registrations over six tonnes is optimistic about 2019, with its best level of incoming orders since 2007, revealed DAF UK managing director Robin Easton, speaking to the trade press in mid-December.
‘2018 has been another great year for DAF,’ he said. ‘As we predicted 12 months ago when we forecast a 41,000 unit market, total registrations are down on the 45,000 unit market of 2017 and since we are so strong in the rigid sector, the more pronounced downturn in this area will impact our overall market share slightly.
‘Despite Brexit concerns, operators are continuing to invest in new vehicles however. They are no doubt keen to prepare for the requirement to operate Euro 6 compliant vehicles in the Ultra Low Emission Zone and Clean Air Zones across the country that will commence in 2019.
