THREE Bonnybridge haulage firms were suspended from running vehicles for three months on 30 October.
The orders, made by the Traffic Commissioner for Scotland, Joan Aitken, come after she found that Valentine Haulage Bonnybridge Ltd operated more vehicles than it was allowed to for ‘financial gain’.
Another operator, William Wright, lent the spare capacity on his licence to Valentine Haulage Bonnybridge Ltd, breaching licensing rules.
Also, haulier J&G Riddell Ltd based at Alford, Aberdeenshire is only allowed to run 15 vehicles for three months from 19 October, decreed Joan Aitken following evidence from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) at a public inquiry.
The Traffic Commissioner concluded that director Gordon Riddell; ‘did not behave with repute when he failed to co-operate with DVSA’s requests,’ also a very serious incident arose for the company when vehicles were found with interrupter devices.
